Verse (Roman transliteration)

Dvaadashmanjarikaa Bhikshaashee, Vishnorvishaye Dridhachittee Sankalpavikalpana Rahitaha, Naama Prabhaavanaamanasijee

Translation

One who lives on alms, who is firm in devotion to Vishnu, who is free from desires and doubts — such a one has conquered the mind born of delusion.

The teaching

This verse, attributed to Shankara's disciple Hastamalaka, describes the liberated sage: one who has renounced the game of accumulation, who holds a stable inner orientation, and who lives free from the oscillation of wanting and not-wanting. Freedom from sankalpa (intention-as-craving) and vikalpa (doubt) is the mark of a settled mind.
